Remember Emmerdale’s Donna Windsor? Verity Rushworth is completely unrecognisable now | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

The actress is best known for her role of hapless Donna in the ITV soap, which she played between 1998 and 2009.

Fans of Emmerdale were used to seeing her with brown hair, but for her latest role, Verity has hit the bottle.

Now sporting peroxide blonde tresses, the 32-year-old stars in the West End’s Kinky Boots.

Playing the comedy character, Lauren, Verity is miles away from her Emmerdale days, playing the love-struck factory worker along with David Hunter, who plays the lead role of Charlie Price.

The former soap star performs rock song The History of Wrong Guys, and has audiences in hysterics with her unusual dancing.

The musical was composed by Cyndi Lauper and has already won three Olivier Awards since it started at the Adelphi Theatre.

Kinky Boots follows the story of Charlie who must save his inherited shoe factory from closing down.

On the verge of quitting, the owner bumps into Lola (Simon-Anthony Rhoden), a drag queen who gives him the idea of making stiletto boots that can hold the weight of a man.

It isn’t Verity’s first time on the stage, having already played Maria in The Sound of Music and Penny Pingleton in Hairspray.

In 2007 she took part in Soapstar Superstar where she came 9th.
